
Bernice is a native Kansan, raised in Oskaloosa. She attended Emporia State University where she received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree
She moved to Chase County in 1989 where she began her teaching career. She was a Business teacher, Curriculum Director, and currently teaches English, all with Chase County USD #284.
Bernice has been married to her husband Ron for almost 30 years. He is also a teacher at Chase County Junior Senior High School. They have two grown children (Lindsay, 27 and Ryan 24) and one fabulous baby grandaughter, Myla.
Service to the community is a priority with Bernice and she has been actively involved many community activities throughout the years.
Over the years, her volunteer activities have included : Brownie Scout Leader, Chase County Preschool Board of Directors, Chase County Jaycees, St. Anthony’s Church Alter Society, Chase County Drug Free Action Team, American Red Cross Blood Drive Chair, Chase County Republican Party Secretary, Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge Director, Symphony in the Flint Hills volunteer, Strong City Rodeo volunteer, Tall Grass Prairie National Preserve Candle Light Tour Guide
